Tanner Beck was Ordained a Priest March 1st, 2015

We were grateful that we were able to witness Byron ordaining Tanner to the office of a Priest.  He was given a very beautiful blessing. It was so wonderful to witness this.

All of Byron's family were there except for Byron's brother who lives out of state.

After the ordination we went over to Tricia's house and celebrated Tanner and Bradley Birthday's.

Bradley will soon be baptized.  It is wonderful to see these wonder mile stones in our grandchildren and children's lives.

February 28th Heike Jennings was Baptized!

Heike, Jerry's wife, was baptized on February 28th.  When I have seen Heike in the past she has worn dark clothes.  She looked like an angel all dressed in white.  She looked so happy and free of the burdens that have held her down.

Annette came to the baptism. She sat by me.  I bent over and told her I was sure Mom, Dad, and Jeffery would be looking in of this beautiful baptism.  Annette agreed.

Two woman sang the song "A Child's Prayer".  Mom loved that song.  It really touched Annette and the tears started flowing.  I know she felt the sweet spirit of the Holy Ghost.

Jerry is so proud of Heike and Morgan.

March 1st Heike was confirmed by Doug.  That was a special experience.  She was given a beautiful blessing.  It was wonderful to witness all of these good things happening in their lives.

February 21st Morgan Jennings is Baptized!

Annette told me that her granddaughter Morgan was getting baptized on the 21st of February.  Doug and I went to her baptism.  Morgan is a very beautiful thirteen year old.  She is Jerry and Heike's daughter.  Jerry was so happy that we came.  I was very disappointed that Annette didn't come.  After the baptism we went over to see Annette.  She had been sick with the flu.

On Sunday we went to her confirmation.  It was a very special occasion.  I'm sure that Mom and Dad, Jeffery (the son of Annette's who died when they had a fire in their apartment), and probably Troy was there looking down on this beautiful scene.  Doug stood in the circle as she was confirmed.  Morgan looked radiant.

New Furniture!

We went to the President's Sale at R. C. Willey's and bought a love seat and a couch that came with end tables, lamps and a coffee table.  We also bought a new table.  Our couches were thread bare and our table was oak and for some reason the finish wasn't right.  It always looked dirty no matter how much you tried to clean it off.

The table was as is.  We didn't really see any problem.  They said sometimes when something has been taken out of it's box they need to mark it down.

Anyway we got a great deal.  Byron and Tricia came and helped us to move the table and I think the store brought out the rest.  We sure appreciated their help.

Shawn Fausett's brother had no furniture in his house.  The missionaries were living with him.  Shawn and his brother came over and took all of our old furniture away.  That was a great blessing.

Johnathan was so awesome in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat

It was so fun to see Johnathan in this wonderful production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.  I would have to say that this is my favorite play.  I totally love all of the music.
His High School put this on.  They do a very high quality production.
It was fun to see Johnathan as one of the brother's.  He sang a solo of "One More Angel in Heaven".  He did really well.  It was fun to be there with his family and Adam came along with us.  We all really enjoyed it.

February 12th Roots Tech and volunteering to serve a mission in the Riverton Family Search Library

Doug and I had the privilege of going to Roots Tech 2015.  Don Anderson a friend of Mark's gave us a Special pass.  He worked for Family Search as one of the top four in the company.  As we went into the big Expo Hall there were missionaries from Family Search asking if we would be interested in serving a Family History Service Mission.  I had wanted to serve a Family History mission for many years.  Now was our opportunity to do it.  We signed up to serve at the Riverton Family Search Library.  It is straight down Bangater Highway and very easy to get to.

While at Roots Tech we saw Greg and Pat Lundeen.  We had been to dinner with them a few days before.  It is great having them live close by.

The classes were wonderful.  They were very inspirational.  I was ready to jump right into this mission.

We really enjoyed hearing a concert by Alex Boye and a wonderful Children's Choir.  They are all so talented.  The director was so fun to watch.  He looked like he loved every minute of working with this children's choir.  They were amazing!

We couldn't believe how many people were there!  It was really tricky to get into the classes.  The rooms were huge but filled up very quickly.  We were inspired and learned a great deal.

On February 9th Doug and I were able to have dinner with many of our past Corcoran Branch Members

We ate dinner at Ruby River Restaurant.  We enjoyed the company of Diane and Allen Asplund, Pat and Greg Lundeen, and Sheri and Tom Condie.  We had such a great time reminiscing about old times in Corcoran.  We made so many dear friends there.  We grew to feel like family.
The Asplund were leaving soon for their mission in Sydney, Australia.

Allyson, Dallin and their Family have moved to Gainsville, Florida on the fourth of February

It was sad to see them go.  We also realize that you have to do what is best for your family.  This has been Dallin's dream forever to be an Entomologist!  It is great that Dallin is  going to be able to move forward.  It was still hard to see them go.  We have never lived so close to our grandchildren before.  I enjoyed ever minute of having quality to spend with them and Tricia's family.  We are so grateful for the fun times we had together.
  

Rebekah has her mission call to Rosario, Argentina!

We were blessed to have the privilege of being in the Portland Temple when Rebekah received her Endowments.  It was such a wonderfully spiritual experience.  The bottom picture was taken at the temple.  In the picture are: Paul, Rebekah, Heather Jamison, Patty and Doug Adamson.  The top picture was taken at Olive Garden after the temple.  On the back row are Holly & Todd, Mitchell Couch Front: Janessa Couch, Doug and Patty Adamson, Heather, Rebekah, and Paul Jamison, and Debbie Rose (Paul's Mother).  Rebekah will make a wonderful missionary.  She has a strong testimony and a very good knowledge of the scriptures.  She isn't too excited about all of the bugs in Argentina.

Jordan River Temple Ordinance Workers.

April 10th, 2014 Doug and I started serving in the Jordan River Temple as Ordinance Workers.  It has been a very humbling experience.  We started out working each Friday morning.  We need to be  at the temple by 5 in the morning so that we will be ready for prayer meeting at 5:20. We hurry to get on our temple clothes and then we attend a Prayer Meeting.  In these meetings we are uplifted by our leaders in being reminded that this is the Lord's work and we are there to serve the dead through the living.  They train us to be better ordinance workers.  When we started out we tried to do as many initiatories as we could during the week so that we could learn and remember the words we needed to say in the initiatory booths.  The promises are so beautiful.  The spirit is so strong.

It took us a couple of months to get everything memorized.  We did have a little help because we had served in the Los Angeles Temple for several months as Stake Temple Ordinance Workers.  I think that we went about every 3 months for a year.  It was in preparation and training for when the Fresno Temple was ready.  Each time we would have a different assignment.  At that time we started learning the veil ceremony and some of the initiatories.  Shortly after we started doing this in L. A. the initiatory and endowment ceremony were changed some.  The changes felt just right for the times.

Doug was quicker memorizing than I was.  The temple workers were so patient and kind.  They remembered how difficult it was to memorize everything just perfectly.

Every two months we have a schedule that has our assignments on them.  I work with two other sisters for those two months.  Our schedule is for a 6 hour block.  Sometimes we are able to help in an endowment session.  We lead the group on the woman's side during that session.  They call us followers.

We usually always do several sessions of initiatories.  We are in the booth for 30 minutes and then we have a 30 minute break or we go and help at the veils.  Sometimes we help issuing the names.

You learn to love and appreciate these beautiful woman that we work with.  Every sister that I have had the pleasure to work with has become a dear friend.  There is so much love in the temple.  The spirit is so strong.

We have enjoyed getting to know our Temple President and his counselors the Matron and her assistants of the temple.  We enjoy having them in our prayer meetings often.

Sometimes people come who are really struggling.  Other times they come when they are doing the work for their much loved ancestors.  Each day is different but always uplifting.  We pray to have the Holy Ghost bless us so that we can bless the patrons who we serve.  We receive many hugs of thanks and encouragement.  The temple is the closest place to heaven.  The temple is so dear to our heart.

Reading Tutors at North Kearns Elementary

Doug and I have had the opportunity for the past school year of listening to students read.  These students are first graders.  We work with one student at a time.  It is fun to see them each week.  As we enter their classroom they are so happy to see us.  They read to us and we ask them questions to see how well they have retained what they read.  Some weeks we see a lot of progress and then other weeks it feels like they are going backwards.  That has to be frustrating for them.  I think that they deal with a lot of outside distractions. We play word games with them and their half hour goes by so quickly.

We have enjoyed being back in the classroom.

January 4th 2015 Our Uncle Eldon Garner Passed Away

Uncle Eldon Garner was the husband of my Aunt Marie Garner.  What I remember about him is that he took wonderful care of Grandma Darley.  Anything that she needed he would be right there for her.  She had no children living close by except for her daughter Marie.  He became very dear to her. When I told my brothers and sisters about Uncle Eldon's death all of them said they really didn't know him.  He was quiet and stood to the back of a crowd.  He had a big laugh.  He was also very considerate to me.

I spent a lot of time during the summer in Rupert with Eldon's daughter Diane.  Most of the time Diane would be dropped off by her mother Aunt Marie. On rare occasions I would go to there house.  Diane loved to have a good time.  She spent a lot of time at the swimming pool.  I went with her several times but on one occasion she taught me how to tread water.   I always stayed in the more shallow part of the pool.  I realized that I could do this quite well.  I got very brave and went into the deep area.  I felt pretty safe as long as I was close to the edge.  Diane encouraged me to go off the diving board.  I couldn't believe that I was actually going to do this.  She assured me that it was just a short distance from the diving board to the edge.  I went for it.  So far it was pretty cool.  Once I came up from under the water I must have panicked.  It was hard for me to catch my breath.  I struggled to get to the side.  The lifeguard was very concerned and wanted me to stay in the more shallow water.  

Uncle Eldon bought a ticket for me to go with his family to a rodeo that they had each year around the 4th of July.  It was fun to experience this new adventure.  I loved the clowns.  We sat pretty close to the front and I enjoyed watching their antics.

I was grateful that Doug and I were able to go to Uncle Eldon's funeral.  I wasn't able to go to Aunt Marie's funeral.  She passed away when we lived in California.  I really got to know this uncle and the amazing person that he is.  

It was great to see all of Aunt Marie's children.  They had four children.  Joyce is their oldest.  She is close to the same age as my brother Larry. They have a son Jerry who was Cathy's age and Diane who was about 9 months younger than I am.  Connie was the youngest.  She was around Sherry's age.  She lives in California.  It was fun to visit with her and get to know her children better.  The Darley's do not have many get together's so this was a rare opportunity to reconnect with them.

 Aunt Marie, Joyce, and Diane were in a bad car accident.  The person in the other car was driving drunk.  He ran a red light and plowed into them.  Joyce was pronounced dead and so was Diane. They placed sheets on them while they waited for ambulance to take them away.  Diane's grandfather on the Garner side saw the sheet move that was over Diane.  She was really alive.  Diane and her mother was hurt pretty badly.  Aunt Marie's back was never the same.  Diane's ability to reason was some what impaired. Those things never kept them from enjoying life.  Aunt Marie was a social butterfly.  Diane was adventurous and fun to be with.

Some of my Hunsaker cousins were at the funeral.  They grew up with the Garner's.  It was fun to visit with them also.

2015 I AM Back - first post since 2009

January 3, 2015 Doug and I meet Jackie and her husband Wayne Kartchner at the Olive Garden Restaurant.  We had a great time catching up on old times.  Jackie and I graduated from Bonneville High School.  We have kept in touch through the years.  They live in Farmington.  I love how we can easily stay connected on Facebook.

Finally Christmas 2009

We started off with quite a different Christmas morning. It was our first Christmas we ever remember without any grandchildren. This picture kind of shows how the morning went.

Mark was more excited and he really enjoyed his new Flip Camera.

We were so excited for Adam's first Christmas home in 2 years. With little ones around it was pretty quiet and uneventful. We tried all of our usual traditions but it just wasn't the same.

We had just finished opening gifts when the doorbell rang.

This was our precious surprise. Rachel and her family had drove all the way from Lake Oswego Oregon to spend Christmas Day with us. We had no idea that they were coming. It was so fun to see them.

They even brought food for Christmas Dinner. Here are our cooks; Elizabeth and Rebekah. What sweethearts. We had tons of food.

Of course Adam had fun teasing Rachel.

Their enthusiasm was contagious. I love Elizabeth's beautiful smile.

What a fun Christmas surprise! There really is nothing greater than celebrating the birth of the Savior with members of our family.

Families are Forever and I'm so grateful for each one of them.
